Instruction for resin - model kits of Alsacast
The kits consist of AlsaCast resin molded parts from high quality.
The kits consist of AlsaCast resin molded parts from high quality.
• Free the components from the moulding. Where the moulding is too thick to be snapped free, sand the reverse with 80 or 100 grain sandpaper.
• The parts are soft, if the components allows for a few minutes in boiling water.
•This way you can edit the parts easily with a scalpel..
•You can also easily remove the parts of the blocks this way.
• Warped parts are concerned, you need the parts for about 30 seconds to put in boiling water. Then you can straighten the parts after 30 seconds.
• As far as gluing is concerned, you should use superglue. It should not be gel. We recommend the High Viscosity superglue from our webshop, because we have experience that it works best on AlsaCast resin kits.
• You must cut the window film to size and then check whether it fits.
• When gluing, you should use a few dots of superglue (for example a skewer).
• If you use too much superglue, white deposits will form.
• To prevent this, we advise you to use a few dots of superglue.
• Always use a good brush.
• You should clean the brush with turpentine and soap after use.
• After cleaning, you can grease the bristles of the brush to a point with Vaseline.
Painting step I
• Always use matte paint.
• You can choose from two types of paint, one based on turpentine and one based on water. If you use the water-based paint, make sure to apply a thin layer of primer first.
• The oil that floats on the paint should not be mixed with paint.
• You must thin the paint by using turpentine. You should do this until it flows well and thinly.
• The paint may not cover properly right away. In that case it is better to paint over it thinly about 2 to 3 times.
• You should always paint the large surfaces first. Let it harden for at least 24 hours.
Painting step II
• A mistake when painting certain details can happen. In that case you can remove the painting mistake with turpentine.
• If you have no experience with painting, we recommend that you first practice on the back of a part.
• Of course you can also use an old model that you no longer use.
• Allow it to harden for at least 24 hours.
Painting step III
• You take more turpentine in proportion to the paint.
• You mix these together. The paint should be dark green or black.
• You then spread this over the entire model.
• Allow it to harden for at least 24 hours.
Painting step IV
• You can age the model or give it effects with the drybrush technique.
• For this you use light gray and white colors.
• This depends on the model you are working with.
• You can use the pigment powders from Alsacast for this.
